I’ve been asked to make another two large, fully jointed dolls and I’m attempting to improve on my first design. I’m going to use bolted teddy-bear joints instead of plastic this time and I’ve decided to needle-felt the body and attach the limbs to the already-shaped body. Last time I did it the other way round and fixed the limbs onto a stitched body which I stuffed afterwards. This left little opportunity for shaping the body and I had to sew extra shaping onto the body. Hopefully this doll woll be a little more curvacious and also a little studier around the joints. So far, the body shaping seems to be going well. Anybody who has done this sort of thing before is more than welcome to make suggestions……
